Focus Birmingham

At Focus Birmingham, we are very fortunate in being able to provide counselling services to our service users and their families. The ESS was set up as a direct result of our board’s guidance.

It is thanks to their forward thinking in identifying counselling and emotional support services as a vital part of integral, holistic low vision care, that in November 2004 we took our first steps towards our current activity.
The emotional support services complement and enhance the level of support all departments at Focus Birmingham are able to deliver to the residents of Birmingham.

Our service is completely confidential and offers a means of exploring reaction, thoughts, feelings and fears about vision loss, without judgement or interference. Your dignity and your choices are respected.

This service can help someone to grieve their loss, regain their confidence and reclaim their life. It includes both talking therapy and access to expert patient programmes, and is available free of charge to anyone registered with a Birmingham GP, irrespective of age, cause, or duration of sight loss
