Focus Birmingham is a specialist charity providing support, advice and information for people with sight loss and complex needs across Birmingham.

If you have parents/guardians considering a next step for their son or daughter following school, we are a wholly appropriate choice.

Our activities are not based upon a curriculum but acknowledge that we are dealing with adults who have rights, including the right to independence . We work with individuals to address any identified need that is holding them back so that they can fully achieve their potential.

We have 4 activity streams and aim for each session to enable service users to have fun and enhance their experience:

Complex Needs Support

Our teams work with adults from nineteen upwards, providing stimulating programmes of activities which are tailored to individual needs. We specialise in working with people with complex needs, delivering support so each person can reach their full potential.

Day Service

The service currently supports 95+ people throughout the week, across five hubs. Our hubs have a team leader, senior support workers and care support staff ensuring each person is receiving excellent support and care.

Opening Times

The Day Service is open Monday to Friday 09:00 – 15:00 all year round, only closing for the festive season, statutory holidays and for staff training.

Person-centered approach

We work with the people we support and their families to create person-centred programmes promoting choice and control to support emotional & physical wellbeing. We work together to find the right methods of communication for all.

Funding

The people we support are funded to attend the Day Service via a variety of methods including local authority funding, health funding and personal budgets. We can support families to access relevant funding
